Please join us for the next scholarship dinner on Monday, April 25, 2022, at 6:30 p.m. at the Royal Sonesta Houston, culminating in the awarding of college scholarships to over 65 top graduating seniors.

Since 1972, our Association has actively promoted and recognized academic achievement in the Houston area. At our 2021 Annual Scholarship Awards Dinner, sixty-six outstanding seniors from high schools in the greater Houston area were awarded $4,000 scholarships.

This year we are delighted to honor David W. Leebron (Harvard College, ’75), president of Rice University, with the Outstanding Phi Beta Kappa Alumnus Award. We will also honor Y. Ping Sun with the Outstanding Contribution to Education Award.

Our honorees have lifted the level of education, expanded the role of the Arts and Sciences, and helped make the City of Houston a Phi Beta Kappa City of Distinction. Mr. Leebron will complete his 18-year tenure as president of Rice University in June. Please join us to salute Mr. Leebron and Ms. Sun’s remarkable accomplishments during this era in the history of Rice University and the City of Houston.

Our Dinner Chairman is Andrew Davis. Davis is the Founding Dean of the Kathrine G. McGovern College of the Arts at the University of Houston. He has been on the faculty of the Moores School of Music since 2003. Davis is involved in both the profession and in the community at large as an active member of the National Association of Schools of Music, and as part of that organization’s team of members that recommends accreditation actions for schools of music nationwide. Davis is a current officer and former director on the Houston Association’s Board of Directors, where he has served since 2013.

Please consider supporting the Scholarship Awards program. Students across our area are working hard to realize their college hopes. Your generous contribution at the $3,500 level or above will directly help those students move forward to grasp their dreams.
