Seventy-five Houston area graduating high school seniors were feted at the Phi Beta Kappa 34th Annual Scholarship Awards Dinner on April 29th where they were presented with this year’s awards. Over 400 guests also attended the dinner to help us honor two of our city’s most deserving citizens: Dr. Arthur T. Sands, President and CEO of Lexicon Pharmaceuticals, Inc., and Gibson Gayle, Jr., Of Counsel at Fulbright & Jaworski L.L.P. David L. Mendez, Chairman and CEO of JPMorgan Chase’s Texas region, was this year’s dinner chair.
The philanthropic community’s response to this event was overwhelmingly positive. Their support of the program provides the Association with the ability to offer a scholarship to 75 of Houston’s brightest and most deserving high school students. Each of the recipients received a $3,000 scholarship award for their future studies.
We gratefully acknowledge all of our supporters of the 34th Annual Scholarship Awards Dinner. They deserve a standing ovation for their support of educational excellence.
